Party in the tent

On a night where the city is most certainly going to be rocking off its hinges with awesome parties, I am pleased to let you know that I will be playing a really top notch event. We all know Bay to Breakers weekend is a general fiasco, but Sean Duff and Justin Roja have been kicking it up a notch the past few years. Last year we debuted Face Drugs at Vessel for the Sahara tent party, and it was nothing short of bananas. This year it seems we are going one step further. Just check the lineup out and see for yourself.

Kick off your Bay to Breakers weekend with a night of incredible music, lazers, and glowsticks when the Sahara Tent is brought up here to the Bay. Talent includes Switch (Major Lazer), Sinden (UK), Ecto Cooler (LA), Them Jeans (Dim Mak), Anna Lunoe (Fools Gold), Face Drugs, Vin Sol, 5kinandBone5, Griffin Camper, Drome, and White Mike.

Co-hosted by Blasthaus, BLAP productions, The Schmidt & 1015 Folsom

Bloc Party and other incredible stuff

Ok so this is pretty cool. I mean really cool.
This wednesday, for Obey the Kitty, I will be playing with Kele Okereke of Bloc Party. I would be lying if I said I want ecstatic. Not only do we have such a rad booking for the party, but I am playing with one of the artists who really shifted the direction I was headed in musically, and had a distinct effect on my tastes. I have an old mix which I can remember spending hours matching up a Banquet edit with some other rock track. Trying to loop the intro on a CD player and make it come in just right. Needless to say Im going to have a ton of fun tomorrow night so I would recommend that you share it with me.

check the mix. not club music, but good music

New Jamzzz – Bass in yo face

“Hood Rich” starts with a cascade of voices tumbling over each other, clamoring for attention on the way to the club. Those bold proclamations give way to the melodious tones of a string ensemble that would be welcome in Yo-Yo Ma’s living room. And that’s just the first minute. All niceties aside, a hive of bass bees smashes against the far wall and explodes, leaving no doubt that every booty will be dropping like DAMN – Dirtybird Records

Rave Weapon is named quite accurately. This Track is cocked locked and loaded for dance floor damage. The infectuous “why after all this time?” sample repeats to a rising crescendo at which point you are hit with the weapons full bass cannon blast. Dropping this on Function One’s is really a treat.

I happened upon this gem through my friend Dustin while doping sound check the other night. A bit more abstract sampling and some heavy bass lines make this a very unique but fun track. Im going to be giving this track a good run through at high volume and see how the minimal funk makes the booty bounce, bounce, bounce!

Non-stop around the clock

This week brings me a fun filled and varied set of events to keep the booties shakin. Hope to see your smiling face on the dancefloor!

Ear Jerker Really caught my attention the last time he played Obey the Kitty. The guy has some really great production skills and DJ’s like a champ.

RSVP on the Facebook event page for guestlist.

“Ear Jerker is a San Francisco based producer with an already staggering amount of original tunes. He started his career with two strong releases on Bad Shoes Records, “Infinitesimal” and “Paradise”. Shortly after, he began self-releasing numerous singles himself through band camp and sound cloud in order to keep up with his ever increasing rate of production. He has been performing regularly around the San Francisco Bay Area and is a founder of “The International” a monthly moombahton/global bass party at Public Works”

Friday night Face Drugs will be rocking the decks of The Parlor for their Rebellion party. We will be joined by Panic City and NTK of I love this Beat. Stoked to be playing alongside such a talented roster. Also added sound and lighting ot really rock the place.

This party is always really high energy and tons of great people so hope to see you there.

Viceroy returns like a mack

The latest Jet Life remix from Viceroy is sizzling its way up the charts and its a definite heater.

The successful string of remixes have catapulted Viceroy into the public eye and for good reason. Each version in its own way has been a way of conveying his “summertime all the time” motto. Keep your eye out for a show near you.

weather music

Music and weather, weather and music. They go together like a fine wine and cheese, calvin and hobbes, models and buffets…

Here is some weather music for you to enjoy in the weather of your choice.

Johnny Kotze aka Johnny Neon is out of Cape Town, South Africa. He uses old vintage electronics and synthesizers to create 80′s inspired aestehetics of sunsets, palm trees, night drives and the love lost youth culture. A little time on his soundcloud revelaed a diverse collection of sounds alongisde the catchy single “Hearts.”

I’m loving the reference to Airwolf and Nightrider. Maybe those shows have just finally made their way over to South Africa?

Free download from soundcloud so get it while its hot.

Dance dance dance

This week’s lineup starts off Wednesday with world renowned party animal and local homeboy Richie Panic taking the helm at Obey the Kitty.

Richies musical style hits hard so lace up your kicks and get down with it. Word on the streets is he is headed off to tour the world with the rest of the Sex Cult crew so catch him before he hits the road.

Make sure to listen and download to his 3rd installment of his Future Ass mixtape series. So much good music

Thursday night I am sharing the stage at Manor West with Ultra Records Recording Artist Ron Reeser. With recent remixes for Beyonce, Flo-Rida, Kaskade, Deadmau5, Maroon 5 & Christina Aguillera he has quickly become a household name in the industry.

This party is an Ode to the artists and music of Ultra. If you aren’t able to get out to Miami this year, join me in SF for Thundergod’s dedication to this world renowned electronic music festival.

really good music videos

Loving this music video for “Bombay” by El Guincho. Came across this when it was being used for visuals and was laughing my ass off. I am a huge fan of Nacho Libre and somehow this reminds me of it.

and then there is this crazy mashup which I found in the comments
